About Me

Licensed Professional Counselor | Licensed Marriage and FAmily Therapist

Caleb Matthews, LPC LMFT

Hello, my name is Caleb Matthews. I’m a psychotherapist in North Austin that specializes in working with couples, families, the LGBTQIA+ community, and people who have experienced trauma.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Science from Texas A&M University in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience. I then went on to graduate with my Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University.

My goal when becoming a therapist was to work with a variety of populations and find what people I worked best with. To that end, I have worked at various agencies across Austin that have helped me to hone my skills as a counselor. I have worked at:

  • Brazos Valley MHMR (Outpatient Mental Health)
  • Head Start (School Readiness Program for Children)
  • Austin State Hospital (Inpatient Mental Health)
  • Integral Care (Outpatient Mental and Physical Health)
  • Goodwill of Central Texas (Career Readiness and Job Assistance)
  • Northwest Counseling & Wellness Center (Family Counseling and Outpatient Substance Use Program)
  • Out Youth (LGBTQIA+ Counseling and Group Counseling)
  • Communities in Schools (LGBTQIA+ Group Counseling)
  • Bluebonnet Trails Community Services (Substance Use Services)
  • Nurture Family Counseling (Group Practice)

It’s important for me to give back to my community. To that end, I have partnered with various local non-profits. I currently am the Board President of The Human Empathy Project, an Austin-based organization that works to foster empathetic connection around matters of Christian faith, gender, and sexual diversity.  I also lead the “What’s My Therapist Reading” Book Club, a free book club for therapists that works to make sure our mental health clinicians are staying up to date on best-practices. Furthermore, I am a therapist for the Flatwater Foundation, a Austin-based organization that is dedicated to providing those diagnosed with cancer, their families and loved ones access to mental health therapy and support.

I also received a scholarship from APD Victim Services to be a part of the EMDR Project where I was able to work with survivors of sexual assault. EMDR is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.   I have since become EMDR Certified through EMDRIA.
